Climate of Beringia: Past, Present, and Future.

This presentation will provide a review of the climate of Beringia over the historical instrumental record with a peek at future projections. The climatology and variablity of sea  ice, air temperature, winds, and precipitation will be summarized in the context of vegetation. The recent decline of sea ice and warming of land temperatures is having important  ramifications for vegetation and the uncertain trajectory of future precipitation will add additional uncertainty to what the future holds. Additional aspects of the climate such as seasonality, variability, and trends in solar radiation, cloudiness, and atmospheric moisture will be included to develop  a more complete picture of the climate of Berengia as it relates to vegetation.
