Gardens are unaccomplished without the showy, pricey investments of ornamental plants. The exclusive enjoyment of having such ornamental plants is anyone’s delight but to become a florist one needs to be in love with plants and also should have a sensitivity toward the vibrant color of flora. The satisfaction acquired from growing ornamental plants is easily understood and has fascinated our lives for ages as people take to this leisure activity effortlessly. Many nature lovers or professionals have wrapped their experiences, knowledge and feelings to focus on the beauty, use and role of plants in the duration of life on earth through various paintings, experiments and research work. Ornamental plants can be showy foliage or blooming flowers. Among ornamental plants, flowers are the biggest treasure that established a bond with nature and nourish the innate needs of humans which is conspicuous in present society. Flowering plants have always been an important part of human life. Grown for decorative and showy purposes in gardens, for cut flowers in bouquets or in garlands. Planting flowers embellish the gardens and colorful flowers give great visual structures that add a soothing effect to the landscape. In our society, no social function is complete without the use of flowers. Floral garland and gajras are needed for marriage ceremonies. Floral ornaments, bouquets, or flower arrangements also find a pride of place in social gatherings, birthday parties, welcoming a home-coming friend or relative and honoring dignitaries. The present study was planned with a target to select the combination of microbes that can be foremost suitable to improve floral traits of Gazania rigens (L.) Gaertn. Microorganisms like Glomus mosseae (Gm), Acaulospora laevis (Al), Pseudomonas fluorescens (Pf) and Trichoderma viride (Tv) were studied alone and in different combination. The experiment was established in randomized complete block designed with five replicates per treatment in an earthen pot. The experiment’s results showed that application of these bioinoculants were very effective for growth yield and flowering response in G. rigens. Earthen pot with treatment Gm+Al+Pf showed flowering first. Shoot and Root weight, leaf area, flower diameter, AM spore number and colonization were found highest in Gm+Al+Pf combination. Carotenoid and anthocyanin content, total phosphorous content were also found maximum in Gm+Al+Pf combination followed by Gm+Al+Tv+Pf. The finding of the present study is to suggest floriculturist to use these bioinoculants instead of chemical fertilizers for the better yield of G. rigens as they are eco-friendly and low cost whereas chemical fertilizers are costly and pollute the environment. Our results suggested that G. mosseae is far better in different combinations than Acaulospora laevis and it should be given full consideration in the application.
