Paths forward: Engaging Indigenous science and knowledge.

Building on the symposium of “Tackling coloniality in plant sciences: Legacies and paths forward”, we present an innovative dialogue that centers the voices of local and global Indigenous scientists, thinkers, and knowledge holders and their diverse ways of holding relationships with plants. We seek to create space for Indigenous scientific perspectives as a way to confront (un)conscious colonialism in science and foster a greater appreciation for the multiplicity of Indigenous scientific worldviews. We are hopeful this gathering will strengthen international connections of Indigenous peoples and allies, provide context on how to ethically co-produce or support Indigenous-led plant science research, and potentially facilitate a research coordination network interested in decolonial best practices.
