A Preliminary Study of Taihang Mountains Mosses Flora and Spatial Phylogenetics. Floristic studies are the basis for understanding the biodiversity of a region. At present, most floristic studies focus on species richness. But the importance of spatial distribution and phylogenetic relationship of species is easily ignored. Spatial phylogenetics is used to study the species diversity of a region by using these two kinds of information, spatially and phylogenetically. Floristic studies combined with spatial phylogenetics can be better used in biodiversity conservation. Taihang Mountains is one of the biodiversity centers in northern China. It is adjacent to the North China Plain in the east and the Loess Plateau in the west. It is a natural biological corridor adjacent to the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest in the south and temperate grassland in the north. We attempted to study the mosses flora in Taihang Mountains combine the spatial phylogenetic. The basis of floristic studies is specimen collection and accurate species identification. The spatial phylogenetic analysis should base on reliable floristic works and extract spatial distribution information. Meanwhile, molecular markers are needed to construct phylogenetic relationships. Morphological and anatomical studies were conducted using the herbarium specimens collected in this study’s field investigations or previous ones. The specimens’ collection information and coordinates were digitized and sorted out. The collection, preservation, DNA extraction, PCR methods, and molecular markers suitable for mosses were explored. The key identification characteristics of species were recorded by photographing. The microscopic structure image database of mosses in the Taihang Mountains was constructed. The floristic components of mosses in the Taihang Mountains were analyzed. Through the floristic study of spatial phylogenetics, which combined geographic distribution information and phylogenetic information, the Taihang Mountains mosses specimen bank was established. This is a collection of specimens, distribution information, images, DNA materials, and DNA barcoding sequences. It will lay a solid foundation for mosses identification, phylogenetic research, ecological research, biodiversity conservation, and forensic medicine application in the future.
