Funding opportunities for research and training through the National Science Foundation.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) provides many funding opportunities for advancing knowledge in the botanical sciences. NSF supports researchers at all career stages and is committed to expanding opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics for people of all racial, ethnic and gender identities, across geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and for people with disabilities. The purposes of this discussion session are to inform the botanical research community about ongoing and new funding opportunities at NSF and to listen to comments and suggestions on how NSF can best serve the needs of the community. Topics that will be covered include NSF’s responses to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, NSF’s Pillars and their associated investments, BIO Directorate 2023 priorities, core programs, new and continuing special competitions, and information on basic research proposal and merit review processes. There will be an opportunity for questions and comments following the overview presentation.
